Más y Más Distortion

Description

A very special take on the MXR Distortion + circuit featuring improved frequency response and tone control, extended distortion and texture control, and better power supply filtering for quieter operation and a lower noise floor. Más y Más refers to more gain and tone options in this new take on the classic circuit.

• FREQ

  Changes the centre frequency in the main active filter in the circuit. This lets the user add or cut bass, also thereby changing the gain structure making it lighter or heavier. Original spec is the middle position on the switch.

• SHIFT

  Pushes or pulls the centre frequency up or down the spectrum. When it pushes, the frequency goes up, and the gain increases. Pulling has the opposite effect. This is a nice way of controlling the amount of distortion produced, and also functions as an added active tone control while still preserving the original spirit of the circuit (i.e., to avoid passive tone filters loading the output).

• D1, D2

  Controls how hard the circuit clips before the output in the hard clipping section. 3 different forward voltages are available in each diode place, so 6 combinations are possible: 3 asymmetric and 3 symmetric.
