Description

A very special take on the MXR Distortion + circuit featuring improved frequency response options for different rigs, distortion intensity and tone control (SHIFT), ability to switch between standard EQ and mid-scoop EQ (controlled with SHIFT), and three different clipping options for varying textures and sustain quality.

• FREQ

  Changes the centre frequency in the main active filter in the circuit. This lets the user add or cut bass active amplification, also thereby changing the gain structure making it lighter or heavier. Original spec is the middle position on the switch.

• SCOOP/HUMP

  Lets the user switch between the classic mid range hump or a heavy scoop (controllable through the SHIFT knob).

• SHIFT

  Pushes or pulls the centre frequency up or down the spectrum. When it pushes, the frequency goes up, and the gain increases. Pulling has the opposite effect. This is a nice way of controlling the amount of distortion produced, and also functions as an added active tone control while still preserving the original spirit of the circuit (i.e., to avoid passive tone filters loading the output). Also, when in SCOOP mode, this potentiometer lets the user sweep a variable scoop up and down the spectrum similar to a Big Muff Pi.

• CLIP

  Controls how hard the circuit clips before the output in the hard clipping section. 3 different combinations are available in low and high forward voltages and symmetric and asymmetric clipping.
